Receiving And Unloading Windows

Your Glo Windows and Doors will be shipped to your jobsite location on a shipping container. Your windows and doors will be carefully packaged, and packed into the container at the factory in Europe.

The container is picked up from the factory via truck, transported to a port and loaded on a ship for its journey across the ocean. Once the container arrives in the USA, it will either be placed on a train, or a truck to be delivered to your jobsite. The size of your container will either be 20’ long or 40’ long, so clear access to the jobsite is important.

If your jobsite will not allow for a semi-truck with a 40’ container to safely deliver your order, you will want to offload at a safer location and transport the windows and doors to the jobsite using a large moving truck.

The amount of time it takes to transport your order depends on the location of delivery in the USA. Shipping times vary between 5-10 weeks.

Once your order has arrived to the site there are a number of tools and pieces of equipment that will make the unload process smooth, efficient and safe. The following photos outline the equipment you will want for receiving and unloading windows.

  • Telescoping forklift
  • 8’ fork extensions for the forklift
  • (6) Industrial strength ratchet straps
  • (4) Industrial strength straps
  • Sawzall
  • Skillsaw
  • (3) 18v Cordless Drills

  • 6 strong workers

receiving and unloading windows

The receiving and unloading of your Glo European Windows will be dependent on a few factors. The amount of time it will take to unload the container will depend on your site conditions, the number of workers you have, and the number and sizes of your windows and doors.

We have seen unload processes go as fast as 2 hours, and as long as 8 hours.

(The 8 hour unload project had six lift and slide doors that were 16’ wide x 8’ high, and one 32’ wide x 8’ high lift and slide door in addition to the rest of the windows and doors.)
